We continued to work on our projects and have nearly reached the point of completion. Stay tuned!

We  become archaeologists and tried to dig out artefacts from the sand. We learnt about the different tools archaeologists use and how the artefacts found by them help us to learn about the past.

We tried to study and analyse what the artefacts that we dug out would be able to tell us.

This week we learnt about area and perimeter.

The highlight of this week was our Music assembly. We composed our own song and put rhythm to it.  We cant thank Ms. Amanda enough for blooming us into such musical composers. We completely enjoyed the process and are so proud of our first song ever! Enjoy the song written, composed and sung by Grade - 3 on the link below -

A short performance we put up for our friends......

“Time flies when you're having fun, and we've been having fun for the last two months.” Its almost the end of the third month in school. This week we have continued exploring the concept of measurement and researching about the different aspects of the Ancient civilisations.

We have also been busy making our models to show our understanding of the Ancient civilisations.
We are learning how to plan, solve problems and use our creativity to recreate the past era.
Stay tuned to see our complete projects soon.

Welcome October!!!!!

Fun with measurement!!

During the first week  after our PTM we commenced our unit of work on measurement. Since it was a nice day, we decided to use the basketball court and our school bus to explore the concept of length. This lesson was about estimating and measuring using a metre stick.

We found out that the bus is 7 mts and 75 cms long.

Our ground is 52.5 metres long

We enjoyed measuring the corridor outside our classroom

Ways to make learning fun!

Helping children learn can be a challenge. While learning requires creative thinking , much of learning consists of rote memorization. Remember going over and over those times tables? Kids get bored easily. Our challenge is to find ways to make earning fun.

As requested by most of the parents here are some ideas that you can use to help take your child's learning further.

Our First Field trip !!!

Field trips expand children's learning through active hands-on experience with the rich resources of the local community. Field trips increase student knowledge and understanding of a subject and add realism to the topic of study.

Field trips offer an opportunity for us to get exposure to ‘real’ people and events and the opportunity to make connections with others. On field trips we visit places that we are not normally exposed to during the school day. In order to enhance their learning Grade 3 went to the first field trip to the Prince of Wales Museum.

The Prince of Wales Museum is one of the most significant museums in India. The museum showcases innumerable forms of art and artifacts hailing from India, Tibet, Nepal and other far eastern countries are preserved in this museum. The museum also houses a collection of 2000 rare miniature paintings from several noteworthy art schools in India. There is another section that displays Indian arms and armour that displays an array of weapons, swords, shields in addition to other exhibits. The museum has a section comprised of European oil paintings. There are also rare archeological artifacts that date back to the 'Indus Valley' civilization in the 2000 B.C. Remnants from the 'Maurya' as well as 'Gupta' periods are beautifully displayed in the museum.

Visiting the MYP art exhibition.

Most of us instinctively know that art is important for our children; we simply believe it's
important because we've seen our children deeply involved in art.
But beyond what we feel and believe,
there is much factual information about why art is important in our children's
development that is both interesting and helpful to know. Creating art expands a child's ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does art help to develop the right side of the brain, it also cultivates important skills that benefit a child's development. But art goes far beyond the tangible statistics measured by studies -- it can become a pivotal mode of uninhibited self-expression and amazement for a child. Art matters the same way language matters -- or the way breathing matters! It is a fundamental component of what makes us uniquely human.

Ashley said, "Sometimes art is just fun with no purpose or reason, just creating, getting messy, and the joyful expression of being a KID

Marti said, "It seems art is the one area where kids and their creativity have free reign."

Our first guest speaker !

Guest speakers benefit students, sharing expert experience in their career fields.Guest speakers extend the boundaries of the classroom, helping students to see the course as a part of a larger network of ideas and conversations.

We had the privilege to honour Mr Sanjay Lawrence an ex fire fighter to come and share with us his experience. He taught us how to take care of us in case of  earthquakes, fire, or even volcanoes!! Thank you for making us more knowledgeable and aware of what we should do in case of an emergency.
